Frankfurt Book Fair: Ceremony with guests from Canada

After the pandemic-related break in 2020, the Frankfurt Book Fair can again take place with an audience this year. On this evening (5 p.m.) the fair will open with a ceremony. Governor General Mary May Simon will be traveling from Canada, the guest country of honor, and the Canadian writer Margaret Atwood will be connected live. The Federal Government is represented by Minister of State for Culture Monika Grütters, the State of Hesse by State Secretary for Economic Affairs Philipp Nimmermann, and the City of Frankfurt by Mayor Nargess Eskandari-Grünberg.

Frankfurt / Main - At a press conference today (11.00 a.m.), Book Fair Director Juergen Boos and the head of the German Book Trade Association, Karin Schmidt-Friderichs, report on the state of the industry.

The Russian writer and government critic Dmitry Glukhovsky has also been announced.

On Wednesday the gates will initially open to trade visitors, and readers will be allowed to come from Friday afternoon.

The number of visitors is limited to 25,000 daily, the 3G rule applies.
