Prague - Diesel is more expensive than ever at filling stations in Germany.

Petrol is also approaching a peak, as the ADAC announced on Monday (October 18, 2021).

According to the Federal Statistical Office, consumer prices are also continuing to rise.

The rise in the price of oil is primarily to blame for the rising fuel prices.

This has increased again since the onset of the Corona * pandemic.

In addition, there is the typical autumn demand for heating oil *.

And since the beginning of the year, the carbon dioxide price of 25 euros per ton has resulted in an additional price premium of around 6 to 8 cents per liter.

This is reported by the German Press Agency (dpa).

Experts now fear that in addition to fuel, electricity and oil, gas will also become more expensive.

In Germany, the rise in fuel prices has recently sparked political debates.

Among other things, Transport Minister Andreas Scheuer (CSU) recently called for effective countermeasures in the event that energy and fuel prices continue to rise sharply.

A large part of the fuel price at the pump is made up of taxes and duties.

For diesel, at the current price level, this is around 25 cents VAT, a good 47 cents mineral oil tax and 6 to 8 cents from the carbon dioxide price.

The state must intervene here.

Most recently, the EU Parliament wanted to tighten the traffic rules on alcohol and speed.
