Haag / Amper

- Belatedly, but nevertheless appropriately and in a dignified setting, the former local council members of the Hague Committee said goodbye in Maiers's Hofstubn in Hausmehring on Thursday.

Five councils had voluntarily withdrawn from the body in 2020 and no longer stood as candidates.

Mayor Anton Geier thanked everyone for their commitment in recent years and emphasized the importance of this honorary position for the community.

It cannot be valued highly enough when people think about the development of their community for years, get involved in their free time and put them in the public eye through their actions on the committee.

(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

Before the Mayor of The Hague could hand over their presents to the resigned councilors, he still had a sad duty to fulfill. Because with Johann Sellmaier, a valued, active member of the municipal council died in 2020. Posthumously he was awarded the “Municipal Certificate of Thanks for 18 years as a member of the municipal council” of the Free State of Bavaria, which his widow Irmgard received.

Then Anton Geier came to a veteran of the Hague City Council. In 2020, Johann Schindlbeck decided to vacate his seat after a total of 36 years and not to take it again. Since then, the 72-year-old has been enjoying his retirement to the fullest, devoting himself to his large garden and often going on excursions with his wife. Looking back, Schindlbeck finds that a lot has happened in the municipality of Haag in the more than 30 years of his tenure. This can best be seen in the building measures such as the town hall, the gymnasium and the community center with kindergarten and village shop.

Armin Weigslberger and Franz Donauer were members of the municipal council for more than 20 years.

Donauer resigned his mandate briefly after an initial period from 1990 to 2011, but came back in 2014 and has set standards as a senior consultant over the past six years.

Of course there had been differences of opinion over the years, Donauer recalled, but in the Hague City Council these had always been resolved objectively and with mutual respect.

A quality that Armin Weigslberger, who was on the committee from 1996 to 2020, very much appreciated and which he strongly recommended to the new municipal council to maintain.

Mayor Geier thanked Magdalena Stimmelmayr for twelve years of volunteering in the local council.

The 63-year-old is of the opinion that younger ones should now come to bring a breath of fresh air to the committee.

A role that Johannes Goldes held for six years, who did not run again after one term.

Mayor Geier regretted that it was a shame for him too that he was no longer on the local council.

As a thank you, together with his deputy Dominik Berger, he presented all the resigned council members with a ceramic plaque elaborately designed by Helmut Leitl and a small gift basket.
