The exploratory paper from Friday lunchtime, which is intended to provide a summary of the talks so far, is a first hint of where things can and will go.

Also in the matter of Hartz IV, which should soon run under the label "Bürgergeld".

In the twelve-page letter, in which the first results of the talks were made available to the public, the three parties make it clear under point 4 “Social security” that they want to ensure that “all citizens in the transformation lead a self-determined life despite the change being able to lead".

There is talk of “mutual respect” - always a Scholz creed during the election campaign.

Bürgergeld instead of Hartz IV: "Focus on helping people return to the labor market"

Citizens' money should respect the dignity of the individual, enable them to participate in society and be digitally and easily accessible. It is intended to focus on helping people return to the labor market. During the Corona crisis, there were generous regulations on safe property and checking the size of the apartment. ”The SPD, FDP and Greens are examining which of these rules they want to continue. For example: “We are sticking to our duty to cooperate and are examining how we can reduce bureaucracy here. We want to improve the opportunities for additional income with the aim of increasing incentives for gainful employment. ”The paper does not yet give any concrete figures.

The Juso federal chairwoman Jessica Rosenthal, who expressed herself critically on other points, seems satisfied: "As Jusos we are pleased that Hartz IV is finally history and that every person in Germany is able to live in dignity and social participation with the citizens' money" , she told the TV station Phoenix.
