On October 21, as part of “Paris avant-garde” during the Fiac, Christie's presents two works by Édouard Manet representing Julie Manet, whom he has often sketched.
She is the only daughter of Berthe Morisot and Eugène Manet, the younger brother of Édouard.

Artist, collector and patron, Julie married on May 29, 1900 Ernest Rouart, son of Henri Rouart whose collection was sold after death in 1912 for nearly 6 million francs, the second highest amount at auction at the time.
Julie had three children, Julien, Clément and Denis.
