Kuwait-SANA
The Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) announced today that a fire broke out in the oil desulfurization unit at Mina Al-Ahmadi Refinery, causing minor injuries and cases of suffocation among workers, without affecting exports and supplies.
The company said on its own account on the social networking site Twitter that the “Ard” unit No. 42 was isolated to remove sulfur and all the lines leading to it after the outbreak of the fire, pointing out that the refinery operations, export operations, local marketing and supply operations to the Ministry of Electricity and Water were not affected by the fire.
The company added that the fire led to a number of minor injuries and cases of suffocation as a result of inhaling fumes among the contractor's workers. First aid was provided to the injured and some were transferred to the hospital, all of them in good and stable condition, but the company did not specify the number of injured.
