The next time you get wanderlust, you don't have to travel abroad: Germany, too, has wonderful landscapes from north to south, east and west that are worth a hike.

We have put together a small selection of routes with different levels of difficulty for you.

66 lakes hike in Brandenburg

Those who like to hike, but are not a fan of steep inclines, have come to the right place with the 66-lake hike.

The hiking trail is located in Brandenburg and runs

400 kilometers

from Potsdam around Berlin and ends again in Potsdam.

The route is characterized by a wide variety of landscapes

full of water and forests

and is perfect for beginners due to its flat level.

Harzer-Hexen-Stieg in the Harz Mountains

Then you shouldn't miss the Harzer-Hexen-Stieg.

In all its variants, the long-distance hiking trail, which stretches across the entire Harz, is around 150 kilometers long.

Schluchtensteig in the Black Forest

The

Schluchtensteig

leads right through the Southern Black Forest Nature Park and is something for hikers who are looking for a challenge.

Over a distance of

119 kilometers you

cover up to 3,180 meters in altitude and march along steep rock gorges.

But you will be rewarded for this arduous path - thundering waterfalls and spectacular views into the depths await you on the route.

include the Wutach Gorge, the Wehraschlucht or the Schleifenbach Falls.

Eifelsteig in North Rhine-Westphalia

If you start in Aachen or Trier, you can start the Eifelsteig in North Rhine-Westphalia.

It leads you through the only national park in the state and leads you on a path of 313 kilometers through the unique landscape of the

Vulkaneifel

.

The long-distance hiking trail can be done in 15 daily stages and leads, among other things, to the only raised bog area in Germany, the High Fens.

Rennsteig in the Thuringian Forest

Old trade and courier routes in Germany are generally referred to as Rennsteig.

The best known is probably the high path of the Thuringian Forest.

The

approximately 170 kilometers

long ridge trail leads you through mixed and coniferous forests and reveals

spectacular views of castles and palaces

The route begins in Hörschel near Eisenach and ends in Blankenstein in the Thuringian slate mountains.

You should plan more than 44 hours with around eight stages for the entire route.

Jurasteig in Bavaria

The Jurasteig in Bavaria leads you through a

unique low mountain range full of pine and beech forests

alternating with original river landscapes and karst landscapes with a Mediterranean touch.

On the 237-kilometer circular route you can

Weltenburg Abbey

with its unique location above the Danube breakthrough.
