The President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said today: The West seeks and plans to change power in the country and continues to interfere in its internal affairs.
And the Russia Today website quoted Lukashenko as saying during a meeting with officials: “The West continues to interfere in the affairs of Belarus with the aim of changing the power in the country, and the most dangerous for us is to destroy the independence of our state, we must remember that.”
"Foreign parties are studying the situation in labor rallies in Belarus and are trying to organize strikes and protests in the country," Lukashenko added.
Relations between Belarus and Western countries deteriorated after the presidential elections that took place in Belarus last year. Western countries did not recognize the results of which Lukashenko legally won the presidency. The European Union, Britain, the United States and Canada imposed economic and political sanctions on a number of Belarusian officials, institutions and factories.
