An 85-year-old man was hit by a truck on Monday afternoon while crossing federal highway 73 in Buxtehude and was seriously injured. According to the police, the senior apparently overlooked the truck that was traveling from Hamburg in the direction of Stade. The 28-year-old driver initiated an emergency stop, but drove the pedestrian anyway.
