The director of hotels and tourism companies in the Ministry of Tourism, Ismail Nasser, revealed that the occupancy rate of the facilities and hotels affiliated with the ministry exceeded 65 percent during the last period in all hotels.
Nasser explained that the international hotels owned by the Ministry of Tourism “Dama Rose, Sheraton Damascus, Shahba Aleppo and La Mira Resort” achieved, from the beginning of the year until 30-9-2021, a total turnover of more than 26.3 billion Syrian pounds, higher than the achieved during the same period of the year 2020 by nearly 20.4 billion Syrian pounds, with an increase of more than 340 percent, and for the same period in 2019 by nearly 20 billion Syrian pounds, with an increase of nearly 278 percent.
Nasser indicated that the total profit achieved in these hotels during the nine months of this year amounted to approximately 12.3 billion Syrian pounds, higher than the achieved in the year 2020 by 10.7 billion Syrian pounds, with an increase of more than 696 percent and about 9.6 billion Syrian pounds for the same period in 2019 With an increase of more than 351 percent.
Nasser pointed out that the reason for the increase is the rise in occupancy rates in general with the increase in prices to match the high costs of operation and its requirements, the rise in wages and the prices of energy carriers.
