Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has warned European leaders of a very dangerous phenomenon in which various institutions within the Union usurp powers they do not possess and impose their will on other member states.
AFP reported that Morawiecki, in a letter to the EU countries, expressed his regret over the use of the financial tools of these institutions to implement their agendas, in reference to the new powers of the European Commission to withhold EU funds if these countries did not comply with the EU standards, especially with regard to corruption or the rule of law.
Morawiecki also warned that centrally managed institutions that are not under any democratic administration in Brussels could turn the EU into an organization that runs counter to the union's shared values, calling on European leaders to remain open to dialogue on EU reform.
