In the area of the Marienbrücke near Neuschwanstein Castle, there was a dramatic rescue operation on Sunday.
A boy slipped and fell into the river.
Schwangau - On Sunday lunchtime, an 11-year-old played on the banks of the Pöllat mountain river not far from the Marienbrücke and Neuschwanstein Castle.
He probably dared to go too close to the water.
"He slipped and fell into the ice-cold river and then over a three-meter high waterfall," writes the Swabian police (Ostallgäu district *) in their report.

The boy's father saw the fall and reacted immediately.
Even before the 11-year-old got sucked into the large, up to 45-meter-deep waterfalls, he managed to pull his son out of the water.
The hypothermic boy was cared for by police forces from Füssen and by an alpine officer from the alpine task force until the mountain rescue service * arrived.
An ambulance then took him to a nearby hospital.
"In addition to the hypothermia, the boy luckily only suffered minor injuries," said the police.
