In 2019 it still counted over two million visitors, last year the Nuremberg Christkindlesmarkt unfortunately had to stop.

This year it will take place again.

Nuremberg - The Christkindlesmarkt 2021 will take place from Friday (November 26th) from 5.30 p.m. to Friday (December 24th).

The special thing about it: It is distributed across different squares, such as the main market, Jakobsplatz, Lorenzer Platz and on the island of Schütt.

The city of Nuremberg * writes in a press release.

The Nuremberg Christkindlesmarkt is one of the oldest Christmas markets in Germany: it was first mentioned in writing in 1628.

In the time before Corona * it counted over two million visitors a year.

In 2020 it had to be canceled due to Corona.

Nuremberg: On November 3rd, the new Nuremberg Christ Child will be elected

On Wednesday (November 3rd) the new Nuremberg Christkind will be elected, who will be allowed to open the Christkindlesmarkt on Friday (November 26th).

However, the opening ceremony will not take place on the balcony of the Frauenkirche, but will be moved to a closed room so that you can watch it live.

With the concept of the decentralized Christkindlesmarkt, which will take place in several places, the hustle and bustle should be straightened out.

On the main market, a maximum of five stalls will be created from eight, this time six instead of three meters wide.

There will be no stage in front of the Frauenkirche portal, but the crib.

The mulled wine stands will also move to the Rathausplatz at the Gänsemännchenbrunnen, the Schmuckhof and the Insel Schütt, the northern Lorenzer Platz and the Jakobsplatz.

However, there should still be traditional goods for sale.

In addition to the traditional Nuremberg gingerbread and fruit bread, visitors can, as always, buy sweets, toys, and Christmas and Christmas tree decorations.

Nuremberg: No appearance of the Nuremberg Christ Child

For reasons of protection against infection, there will unfortunately be neither an appearance by the Nuremberg Christkind at his market nor the children's Christmas.

People who want to visit social and charitable institutions must adhere to the hygiene measures.
