According to a court ruling, the comparison portal Verivox withheld essential information from consumers and received a complaint from the Higher Regional Court in Karlsruhe.
In future, it will only be allowed to show its comparison of private liability insurers if it explicitly refers to the limited number of providers used.

The court upheld a lawsuit by the Federation of German Consumer Organizations (VZBV).

In the Verivox comparison, almost half of all providers were missing, "including many large insurers such as Allianz, Huk-Coburg, Continentale, WWK and Württembergische", according to the VZBV.
According to the court, this was not evident to the consumer.
