"I persist in my annoyance," Pope Francis said Saturday during a speech at the Vatican, adding that some people within the Catholic Church resent his insistence on social justice issues.
The pope spoke via video to the World Meeting of Popular Movements, an initiative founded by Francis, made up of hundreds of international grassroots organizations and social justice groups that work for immigration reform, environmental issues, prison reform, wages and protections for workers and racial justice.
Francis made 9 appeals "in the name of God," including:
Big Pharma to release patents and allow all countries to have access to vaccines
Banks to cancel the debts of poor countries
Industries to stop the destruction of the environment
Arms manufacturers to stop arms trafficking
Tech giants to stop exploiting people for profit
The media to stop misinformation and stop focusing on scandal
“This system with its implacable logic the profit escapes from all human control.
It is time to stop the train, a runaway train that is taking us into the abyss, ”Francisco said.
Biden will have an audience with Pope Francis this month, says White House
"There is still time," he added.
Francis also referenced the protests after George Floyd's death as an example of the collective response to abuse of power.

The pope suggested a reduction in working hours so that more people access the labor market and the introduction of a universal minimum wage.
Many of Francis's points are taken from his 2020 encyclical “Fratelli Tutti” (Brothers All), a document that addresses issues of social justice.
