Queuing for coffee house flea market

As stylish as Kerstin Klug's cakes are, her Café Max II in Feldafing train station sends her into the final straight: with several stops in front of the terminus at Christmas and at the weekend with a first stop at the flea market.

As stylish as Kerstin Klug's cakes are, her Café Max II in Feldafing train station sends her into the final straight: with several stops in front of the terminus at Christmas and at the weekend with a first stop at the flea market.

Feldafing

- bird cages, plates, vases, garden tables: the objects that Kerstin Klug put together ranged from large to small and from decorative to practical. While garden furniture is waiting for buyers in front of the “Königsbahnhof”, the interior on Saturday morning is almost reminiscent of the decoration department of a furniture store, the range is so dense and large.

When you look at the clever arrangement, you can tell Klug that she had often organized an artist and creative market around the train station. “And that's not all,” comments the café leaseholder, “on Sunday I'll add more objects - suddenly they wouldn't all have had enough space.” The campaign attracts so much attention that the admission takes place many hours of the weekend must be limited in order to comply with the distance rules. Queuing is often the order of the day.

“We actually wanted to eat something in the café, but it was too busy,” reports Valentine Lanio.

She and her parents Ulrike and Michael Lanio are patiently waiting for admission to the flea market.

The Tutzingerin buys some cereal bowls and pasta plates.

“I bought them because they go so well with the existing dishes.” She hopes to support the operator with the purchase.

"Because she continues to bake cakes."

Gabriele Höltke comes to the train station in the role of the active mom.

"My daughter has just moved from Munich to Feldafing," reports the Tutzinger woman.

Because the daughter has to take care of her baby, she took photos of the interesting objects at the flea market and forwarded them digitally to check for favors.

"So I took a garden table with chairs for my daughter."

Höltke praised her when she was invited - but she is not entirely satisfied, because she considers the gastronomic offer to be indispensable: “A bistro in the train station would be important, especially one where young mothers with prams can meet in peace and quiet and ambience, ”says the 63-year-old. With the closure of the “Max II” there is a risk that in Feldafing and Tutzing, apart from eateries and bakeries on the roadside, there will only be “dead pants” if you want to be pampered in the afternoon.

Yvonne Plenk from Feldafing is of the same opinion: “At least an ice cream parlor here would be nice,” says the young mother, “stop in winter with gingerbread and mulled wine for the mothers.” Plenk comes to the flea market, but is one of the more sporadic guests. Unlike Silke Thomann and Martin Ludwig: "We were here once a week, at least on Thursday, the music evening," say the Feldafingers. They are “very sad that the café is closing now”, they emphasize, and decide on a garden table.

Brigitte Hornberg has a particularly mixed feeling.

The new citizen of Tutzing has only just moved to the lake and would have liked to see the "Max II" in full operation.

With a few flea market items, she can now set up herself, which is of course positive, but she emphasizes: "I think it's a shame that I never saw the café in its heyday."

After all, the "Max II" can still be experienced for two months, because Kerstin Klug will continue to operate the core stock of dishes until December 19.

In the end there will probably be another flea market, she says - then also with the corner bench and the shelves.

"Only the indoor seating remains in the house, because they were from the community."
