Replanting for a 250 year old beech in Grünsink

Weßling - The stately beech in Grünsink was more than two centuries old. It had to be felled a year ago. For safety reasons: One of five branches of the beech tree crashed into the car of sexton Gerhard Steenken. Over the weekend, Robert Strobl's team from the Gilching company Wasserschutz & GaLa-Bau planted a pedunculate oak - donated by nine-year-old Annemarie Landrock.

The tree stump has a circumference of three meters, which in turn indicates the age and size of the giantess felled a year ago. “The beech must have been around 250 years old,” the sacristan estimated. This would have to be replanted within twelve months, according to the instructions from the Lower Nature Conservation Authority. The Catholic Parish Church Foundation Christkönig had the choice between a sycamore maple, a red beech or the aforementioned oak. The trunk circumference was not allowed to be less than 16 centimeters and the tree had to be at least a meter tall, it said. The successor should have roots within three meters of the tree stump. Cost center: 730 euros.

The amount was donated by nine-year-old Annemarie Landrock: instead of a Playstation or a new cell phone, she invested the money given from her communion in replanting. This was preceded by a parish letter asking for a sponsorship, remembered the donor's father, Markus Landrock. The family applied as one of two and was accepted, said church caretaker Brigitte Reichelt. However, the second applicant did not go out empty. "We put them off on a bush," reported the church caretaker. “We found it to be a nice, sustainable idea that will hopefully last a lifetime”, the father explained the motivation for sponsorship - and then there was a Christian thought: “Connect the roots in faith and the roots of the tree.“As if to confirm, Strobl and his employees, while digging the planting pit, came across a beech root that had worked its way up to the new location. A little later the offspring stood in their new home, stabilized by two stakes. Blessed with holy water by Pastor Thomas Ruf, the plant now has the best conditions to grow into an impressive oak itself. By the way, between felling and replanting, nature did not remain idle: In the ailing center of the tree stump, some beeches have successfully gathered, while young sycamore maples and beeches strive for light around the root area.stabilized by two piles.
