Russia today called on the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) to abandon the approach aimed at "deterring" it as a prerequisite for normalizing its relations with it.
Russia Today website quoted the deputy head of the Russian delegation to the First Committee of the United Nations General Assembly, Andrei Belousov, as saying during a session today that “as long as the alliance does not abandon the approach aimed at deterring Russia, cooperation and dialogue with them will remain difficult,” noting that NATO countries are “strengthening the military capabilities and activating its military movements” on Russia’s borders.
