A few weeks ago, the State Arbitration Commission of the Left in North Rhine-Westphalia unanimously rejected Sahra Wagenknecht's request for exclusion from the party.
Now the committee has justified this step in writing, first the portal »Queer.de« reported about it.
The 43-page document is available to SPIEGEL.
According to this, Wagenknecht is said to have inflicted "serious damage" on the party, but is not excluded because the defendant cannot be blamed for this alone.
Responsibility also lies with the party "which has not politically resolved the conflict that has been waged with increasing severity for many years" over Wagenknecht's views, but rather delays it.
The party leadership did not defend its own program against the attacks by Wagenknecht: "At the latest after the current party exclusion procedure had been initiated, it would have been appropriate for the party executive to defend the positions of the party program against the attacks of the defendant." It was not the task of the arbitration commission to resolve this political conflict.
It is surprising how clearly the Arbitration Commission criticizes Wagenknecht's behavior, especially her book "The Self-Righteous" is the focus.
The positions represented there on migration policy, discrimination against women and minorities and nationalism would clearly run counter to the principles of the party.
Wagenknecht had spoken out in favor of a strict restriction on labor migration, including within the European Union.
In addition, she defended the controversial term of the "leading culture" among the left.
In her book, Wagenknecht described people belonging to ethnic or sexual minorities as "bizarre minorities with quirks".
Wagenknecht promote "right-wing populist resentment"
From the point of view of the party, it is unacceptable when Wagenknecht "judges in a condescending way people who are committed to migrants, women, sexual minorities, animal or climate protection."
Wagenknecht promotes "conservative and right-wing populist resentment," according to the state arbitration commission.
“To formulate it like the respondent at a district assembly would only be grossly unfriendly.
To do it in a book that makes it onto the SPIEGEL bestseller list, on the other hand, is a serious violation of the principle of loyalty. "
The form and the time of publication of the book shortly before the federal election are also "grossly disloyal and disloyal to the party."
Wagenknecht's terminology is "disparaging" and sometimes "mocking".
This endangers "internal peace in the party."
The left has been in constant dispute with its most famous comrade for years.
Most recently, Wagenknecht criticized his own party shortly after the election.
Several members accuse her of refusing to participate in internal party discussions.
Wagenknecht does not appear at party congresses or parliamentary group meetings, submit no motions, refuse to hold talks, but make public statements in interviews.
