to recover a lost territory, it is better to take it seriously, except to blind yourself.
The future of Taiwan has been set in stone by Chinese President Xi Jinping since at least 2019, when he promised to achieve
"by all means"
the
"complete reunification of the motherland".
The only question that applies to world peace is therefore the following: how to dissuade him from passing by force?
The option, officially favored by China, of a
“peaceful reconciliation”,
via economic rapprochement and the maintenance of
“one country, two systems”,
has lost its credit since Hong Kong was brought under control.
Communist leaders ostensibly biding their time: either the world is looking elsewhere, distracted by other crises, or the rise of Chinese power discourages potential adversaries.
