After investigation by the Yau Tsim Police District Crime Squad, two Pakistani men were arrested yesterday and found that the case involved at least 56 illegal credit card transactions, involving approximately 300,000 yuan, of which the largest loss in a single case was 90,000 yuan.

From September to October this year, the Yau Tsim Police District received a total of 4 thefts of the same type that occurred on weekends. The informant claimed that property was stolen in Yau Tsim and Mong Kok districts. Later, it was discovered that the credit card was stolen. The female inspector of the Yau Tsim District Crime Squad, Zhang Meixin, told a press conference tonight (18th) that the culprits were looking for prey on the street. This is specific to the bar areas in Yau Tsim and Mong Kok, and is intended for people who are drunk or resting. Passers-by started to steal the victim's valuables, including wallets, mobile phones, bank cards and credit cards.

After the culprits succeed, they will go to other convenience stores in Kowloon to conduct transactions. They mainly purchase point cards or add value in exchange for quick money and profit. Each transaction involves losses ranging from hundreds to thousands of yuan.

After in-depth investigations, the Criminal Division of the Yau Tsim Police District identified the key members of the group involved and launched an arrest operation yesterday (17th). Two Pakistani men (30 and 37 years old) were arrested in Kowloon City District and Yau Tsim District for suspicion. Theft and obtaining property by deception.

The two were conducting transactions at a convenience store when they were arrested, and the police officers also recovered a stolen credit card from a victim.

The investigation revealed that the group involved in the case involved at least 56 cases and the amount involved was more than 300,000 yuan, of which the maximum loss in a single case was 90,000 yuan. It was also the purchase of point cards and value-added in convenience stores.

All arrested persons are now being detained for investigation.

One of the 37-year-old men arrested will be charged with one count of theft and one count of obtaining property by deception. The case will appear in the Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (19th) morning.
