Winter emergency program for the homeless starts in two weeks

The city of Hamburg will be offering the homeless again emergency sleeping places from November 1st to keep them from freezing to death.

The winter emergency program will run until the end of March and should also offer a permanent way out of homelessness through mediation and advice on request, the social authority announced on Monday.

Hamburg - According to the information, 1030 additional beds are available this winter - 400 in Friesenstrasse, 300 in Halskestrasse and around 100 in containers at churches and universities.

An additional location with up to 224 places in the Schmiedekoppel offers additional capacities as an option and serves to enable pandemic-friendly, loose occupancy when the workload is high.

The city accommodation locations can be easily reached with a free bus shuttle.
