Two men aged 16 and 36 were arrested last week for 25 acts of theft from inside vehicles in neighboring municipalities.

As soon as they saw an opportunity to loot a car, they grabbed it. Two men were arrested in the middle of last week by the Ressons-sur-Matz brigade for 25 thefts committed in the area between July 2020 and October 2020. The duo, made up of a 36-year-old man and a minor from 16 years old, was taken into custody for 48 hours and admitted part of the facts. The adult was already in prison after being convicted of other thefts when his identity appeared in the investigation by the gendarmes. The minor was free and was indicted. Pending trial, he was released.

"They really spoiled the lives of the inhabitants", assures a gendarme.

The pair traveled over a fairly large area.

They committed thefts in Monchy-Humières, Conchy-les-Pots, Baugy, Gournay-sur-Aronde, Biermont, Ressons-sur-Matz or even Thourotte.

Thus, the two individuals scoured the villages in search of the right opportunity: a car left in a parking lot the time to do some shopping, to visit friends or even to meditate in the cemetery.

Thus, residents of Coudun had the unpleasant surprise of finding a broken window after having placed flowers on the graves of their loved ones, last year, during All Saints' Day.

They used bank cards in the bars-tobacconists of Compiégnois

The thieves always operated in broad daylight and took little time to operate. Thus, some victims claim to have left their vehicle unattended for only an hour or even half an hour. The operating procedure was always the same, they forced the cars, starting by systematically breaking the rear side window and taking with them everything they found: caps, glasses and bank cards ...

It is in particular thanks to their mania for using it in the bars-tobacconists of Venette and Compiègne that the investigators have traced the trail.

“They paid via the contactless system until the card was blocked and then started the flights again,” they told the Compiègne gendarmerie company.

The two individuals will have to answer for their acts before justice in March 2022.
