In July, a headline in the Dachauer Nachrichten caused a stir: “Brutal youth gangs are terrorizing Karlsfeld!” A spokesman for the Dachau police described how dramatic the situation was. Among other things, there was talk of aggravated assault and sexual offenses. Two youths who live in a refugee shelter in the village were arrested. And there they are still, as the Dachau police chief Thomas Rauscher emphasized on Monday evening at the citizens' meeting in the Karlsfeld community center.

Karlsfeld

- With the arrest of the two "main perpetrators", as Rauscher described them, it "immediately calmed down" in Karlsfeld.

In addition, an increased police presence had an effect.

The two young people were responsible for the fact that there was an accumulation of sometimes more serious crimes in Karlsfeld within a short period of time.

Overall, however, it remains that Karlsfeld is a safe community in a safe district.

In 2020, there were 667 criminal offenses on record in Karlsfeld - 114 more than in 2019. This is the highest value in the past four years and goes against the development in the district as a whole.

Nevertheless, the number is still in the "acceptable range," said Rauscher.

The trend for 2021 is also downward.

At 60.3 percent, the awareness rate in the community has risen for the fourth time in a row compared to previous years.

A major reason, according to Rauscher, is that a gratifyingly large number of victims made themselves available as witnesses.

Rauscher appealed to the audience to report security disruptions and criminal offenses to the PI Dachau.

"Witness statements are the alpha and omega!"

The Dachau police noted increasing numbers of cases for Karlsfeld in three areas in particular: bicycle theft, shoplifting and drug offenses.

The so-called frequency number shows above all that Karlsfeld is still a safe community.

The statistics record the frequency of criminal offenses per 1000 inhabitants.

This is 30 in the municipality as in the district. A low value, as Rauscher assured.

A constant nuisance in Karlsfeld: so-called posers.

This mostly refers to young drivers who make noise in vehicles with high horsepower and accordingly loud, preferably at night.

Especially on the dead straight Münchner Straße in Karlsfeld, people like to accelerate.

"This is a supraregional problem," said Rauscher.

That is why cooperation with other departments has been strengthened.

The police are taking action against the poser scene with a bundle of measures.

There are special controls - there were already twelve in the district in 2021 alone - more vehicles are being towed away, more vehicles are being seized, and driving bans are being issued more frequently.

"We are of the opinion that we will be successful with it," said Rauscher.

The police director emphasized that violations by posers are now punished more severely following changes in the law.

Nevertheless, the “phenomenon is of course not gone”.

The scene tries to evade, it looks for other meeting places, other streets.

The number of traffic accidents fell significantly in 2020.

As Rauscher explained, last year there were 217 minor accidents, 114 accidents with more serious property damage and 68 accidents with personal injury - a total of 399. In comparison: In 2017 there were 503 accidents, in 2019 there were 483 accidents.

The number of escapes from accidents fell compared to previous years to 98, for example 127 in 2018. Of the 98 hit-and-run cases in 2020, 36 were resolved.

However, the values should be viewed with caution, according to Rauscher.

The decline is "also due to corona" and can be observed across the district.
