Investigators refer to it as the “loverboy method” when women are pretended to be great love by men - in order to bring them into a relationship of dependency.

In this situation, the women are then sent to the line by their supposed lovers.

"As long as the emotional dependency persists, the victims are usually not aware that there is a criminal offense of forced prostitution," said the State Criminal Police Office in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The 33-year-old is also accused of possessing child pornography, extortion, illegal possession of weapons and attempted manslaughter.

According to the indictment, he rammed a knife into the stomach of an acquaintance.

For the process, another 27 negotiation days are initially scheduled until the end of February.

The defendants face several years' imprisonment.
