30 arrested after violent protests, looting and destruction of public works in Chile

The Minister of the Interior and Security of Chile, Rodrigo Delgado Mocarquer, reported that so far 30 arrests have been made in the country in the framework of the protests of October 18, 2021.

This Monday, the Minister of the Interior and Security of Chile, Rodrigo Delgado Mocarquer, reported through a press conference that so far 30 arrests have been made in the country in the framework of the protests of 18 October 2021.

The minister also reported five wounded carabinieri, including one officer who was wounded with a firework.

Delgado stressed that the violent acts have been a group alien to the majority who have protested peacefully in the country.

"We are in the presence of criminals who do not represent the vast majority," he said, referring to the episodes of looting and destruction of public works on Monday.

Delgado added that there are 19,000 carabinieri and 3,000 investigative police working to maintain order in the country.
