A 76-year-old woman from Lübeck was cheated out of jewelry worth around 50,000 euros by so-called shock callers.
A stranger called the elderly woman on Friday and pretended to be the lawyer for one of the woman's grandsons, the police said on Tuesday.
The fraudster had told the 76-year-old that her grandson had been arrested for causing a fatal traffic accident.
Lübeck - The wrong lawyer asked the senior citizen to collect valuables in order to be able to pay the bail for the release of the alleged grandson.
On the same afternoon, the 76-year-old handed over jewelry worth around 50,000 euros to an announced collector.
