Tracking transmitter found thieves: a so-called GPS tracker led the police in Moers to two young women aged 14 and 17 who are said to have stolen the wallet of a 95-year-old.
According to Tuesday's announcement, the duo had accompanied the old woman into the hallway on the weekend under a pretext and apparently stole her wallet from the walker.
Moers - The elderly woman's grandson, however, took aim at the wallet using the GPS device hidden in it - and led the police into a shop in the city center.
There the two suspects were about to pay.
The 95-year-old's possessions and other valuables were found in their bags.
The police couldn't say why the grandson had put a GPS transmitter in his wallet.
Such devices for theft protection are offered on the Internet.
