A man killed by a hot air balloon on Route 60 near Balfouria (MDA)
A man in his 20s was killed this morning (Tuesday) after falling from a balloon and hitting a passenger vehicle on Road 60 in the Afula Nazareth area, near Balfouria.
An MDA team that arrived at the scene gave him medical treatment which ultimately determined his death.
An initial investigation of the incident revealed that the ball owners noticed the man when he was hung from the outside immediately at takeoff, but the ball picked up speed and quickly rose to altitude. A similar tragic incident occurred in late September when a Nature and Parks Authority inspector was killed after tripping and falling from a great height, while trying to rescue a family during a hike in Nahal Amud.
The inspector, Peretz Giladi, 72, was evacuated in critical condition to Ziv Hospital in Safed, where he was pronounced dead.
