The European Seismological Center stated that an earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale occurred today in the eastern Mediterranean near Greece.
In a tweet, the Center indicated that there have been no reports of human or material losses as a result of it so far.
For its part, the Athens Greek National Observatory of Geodynamics said that an earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale hit the eastern Mediterranean, noting that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 58.5 km from the surface of the earth and 127 km southeast of Karpathos Island, without causing any losses.
In Egypt, the stations of the National Seismic Network recorded an earthquake located in the eastern Mediterranean, with a strength of more than 6 on the Richter scale, which was felt by the residents of Greater Cairo and a number of Egyptian governorates.
The National Center for Geophysics of the National Council for Scientific Research in Lebanon also stated that an earthquake occurred in the sea between the islands of Cyprus and Crete, with a magnitude of 6.4 on the Richter scale, which was felt by the residents of Lebanon.
The center reassured that there is no danger of a tsunami as a result of this earthquake.
