Israel's ambassador to the UN, Gilad Ardan, attacked the Palestinian ambassador today (Tuesday) at a UN Security Council hearing and addressed Israel's position on Iran's progress toward a nuclear bomb.
Ambassador Arden said at the hearing: "Today we heard from the Palestinian ambassador the same lies and distortions that we hear in any discussion of the situation in the Middle East. Mr. Ambassador, you are not ashamed to speak before the Security Council, when your government pays hundreds of millions of dollars to terrorists? Arden also criticized the content of the defense proposal's discussions: "Instead of promoting peace, the discussions only perpetuate the conflict. These biased discussions give the Palestinians the illusion that they will never be held accountable for their crimes."
"The clearest example of this council's absurd approach is the decision to invite Hanan Asrawi as a representative of 'civil society.'

Arden also referred to the nuclear threat from Iran and announced that Israel prefers a diplomatic solution that would prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear threshold state: "Iran has no intention of negotiating such a solution.
