A burning rubbish bin triggered an operation by the fire brigade in the Hamburg tax authorities on Tuesday morning.
The fire broke out for unknown reasons in the garbage room in the basement of the house on Gänsemarkt, said a spokesman for the authority.
Because of the heavy smoke development, all employees had to leave the building.
As a precautionary measure, two caretakers were taken to a hospital after the fire.
Hamburg - After the house was ventilated, the officials were able to return to their workplaces.
