Ebersberg - The water rescue service of the Bavarian Red Cross in the district of Ebersberg consists of volunteers who take care of the safety of the population on the water in their free time.

But one member works full-time for the water watch: the water watch mascot Wastl.

They are present at every meeting and every competition, Wastl also makes films for the Red Cross in which he explains about water safety and first aid issues.

Since the summer, Wastl has finally been able to visit children in day care centers and primary schools again, which was not possible for a long time due to the pandemic.

The children learn the correct behavior on and in the water in the Pitsch-Patsch program of the water rescue service

With his program Pitsch-Patsch - Water is fun for all of us, he educates children about the correct behavior on and in the water and thereby does his part to ensure that the water rescue service has as little to do with rescue operations as possible. The program offers the right content depending on the season, the ice rules in winter, the bathing rules in summer. It is particularly exciting when the water rescue rapid response team is there and demonstrates their equipment, including the lifeboat.

The Pitsch-Patsch program is designed for kindergarten and elementary school children and lasts two hours.

Day care centers and schools that would like Wastl and his team of voluntary water rescue members to visit with the Pitsch-Patsch program can contact the BRK and make an appointment.
