- what happened: At 3 a.m. on Sunday a worried mother reported to the Tölzer police station.

She reported that her daughter (27) went hiking in Jachenau with a friend (34) on Saturday.

At 9 p.m. her daughter had called them and said they were lost in the mountains.

After that, no more contact was made, the mother told the police in great concern.

The two friends come from the areas of Schrobenhausen and Neuburg an der Donau.

The alarm chain went off immediately at the Tölz police.

The officials from Mittenwald were also asked for help.

A Mittenwald patrol drove into Jachenau to locate the women's car.

In addition, the Lenggries mountain rescue service and the Jachenau fire brigade were alerted.

40 volunteers from the mountain rescue service, reports head of operations Tobias Stevens from the mountain rescue service, took part in the search.

Divided into several groups and with different vehicles, they searched the large area in the area of ​​Glaswand, Staffelalm and Rabenkopf.

They were supported by members of the Jachenau fire brigade.

A helicopter that was supposed to be called in could not take off due to fog at the place of departure.

"Unfortunately, it was not possible to contact the two women by phone," reports Stevens.

In the morning hours, the next steps were discussed - they wanted search parties with dogs and a helicopter to come.

At 7.15 a.m., however, the redeeming news came: The missing people had reported back to their mother and told them that they had spent the past few hours in a hotel in Kochel.

The two women were then “urgently instructed”, according to the police press report.

It is currently being examined whether the two women may have to cover any costs incurred for the search.
