Dramatic change in the so-called Elysee polls trial, which has been held since Monday in the 32nd chamber of the Paris court.
While the former president was called as a witness to appear by the Anticor association, he had let it be known by a letter from his lawyer that he would not go to the trial despite his summons, on the grounds that the facts in question took place during his tenure and that his hearing would infringe the constitutionally guaranteed immunity of the Head of State.

In a decision made public Tuesday at the beginning of the afternoon, the court decided to summon Nicolas Sarkozy despite everything, considering that his immunity in no way precludes a hearing as a witness.
The former head of state is therefore summoned to court on November 2, to give his version of the facts about this case involving five of his close collaborators.
