SC Magdeburg has won its opening game in the European League.
The defending champion won the Slovenian champions RK Gorenje Velenje on Tuesday after a difficult first half with 31:27 (13:14).
Lukas Mertens was the best SCM thrower with six goals, Matic Verdinek was the most successful for Velenje with eight goals.
Velenje - Magdeburg was defensively safe and took a lead (4: 2/5.).
Then the SCM failed several times on the goalkeeper of the hosts and fell behind (5: 6/12.).
Magdeburg missed too many scoring chances, was in between with three goals behind, but shortened the break.

The EHV Aue enjoyed the handball festival against the German record champions THW Kiel and sold dearly despite leaving the DHB Cup.
Against the top favorites, the Saxons were able to keep the second round game open until the eleventh minute.

Eisbären Berlin miss the CHL round of 16
The Eisbären Berlin celebrated their first victory in the Champions Hockey League (CHL), but no more chance of the last sixteen of the European Ice Hockey Cup.
On Tuesday evening, the German champions won 6: 3 (2: 1, 3: 1, 1: 1) against the top Swiss club HC Lugano in the arena at Ostbahnhof.
Blaine Byron scored two goals, and Simon Després, Zach Boychuk, Leonhard Pföderl and Yannick Veilleux scored for the capital city.

DHB-Pokal: BSV and handball lynx confidently continue
The Bundesliga handball players from Buxtehuder SV and the handball lynxes Buchholz 08-Rosengarten did not show any nakedness in the second round of the DHB Cup.
The BSV won on Saturday at the second division TuS Lintfort with 36:28 (20:15).
