USA: Recommend booster doses of J&J 3:21 vaccine

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) plans to allow Americans to receive a different vaccine than their original coronavirus vaccine for their booster doses, according to two sources. familiar with current thinking within the agency.
While details on exactly what language the FDA will use remain unclear, they are expected to do a broad "mix and match" authorization potentially as soon as this week.

While this could apply to all FDA-cleared vaccines in the United States, officials realize that this has been the biggest concern for those who received a single dose of Johnson & Johnson's vaccine.

The FDA has already authorized boosters for the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine and is currently considering the authorization of boosters for the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines.
Vaccine advisers from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are scheduled to meet Thursday to discuss the Moderna and J&J boosters.
Last week, the National Institutes of Health presented FDA vaccine advisers with early information from an ongoing study showing that it didn't matter which vaccine people got first and which booster they received - it was safe to mix vaccines for boosters and the immune system response was accelerated.
Boosters with mixed vaccines also gave a good response to the delta variant.
