USA: Recommend booster doses of J&J 3:21 vaccine

The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) plans to allow people to receive a booster dose against covid-19 of a different vaccine than the one they were initially given

According to the outlet, the FDA might point out that getting the same booster shot is preferable, but would not recommend one shot over another.
The National Institutes of Health presented FDA vaccine advisers on Friday with the first data from an ongoing study showing that it does not matter which vaccine was received first and which booster doses later, as it was safe to mix the doses of boosted and increased the immune response.
The mix also provided a good response to the delta variant.

Dr. Amanda Cohn, a member of the FDA's vaccine advisory panel who is also medical director of the National Center for Immunizations and Respiratory Diseases at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said the guidelines on combining the Booster doses of the vaccine would allow flexibility for the public and for those attempting to offer doses of vaccines to the public.
"I don't think there is any kind of need from a public health perspective to have a mix-or-match preference," Cohn said at the meeting.
