District - Strengthening and optimizing cooperation in order to be optimally prepared for an emergency was the aim of a joint practice day between the Hochstadt and Oberpfaffenhofen fire brigades.

Emergency scenarios were simulated and rehearsed for twelve hours.

The day began at 8 a.m. for the 25 participants with a briefing on the situation and safety. A total of 7 deployment scenarios had to be mastered by the 25 firefighters either together or independently. The individual exercises were planned and prepared in advance by the two commanders. The basis for this were real missions that both weirs had to deal with in the past. Immediately after the vehicles were taken over, a triggered fire alarm system and a door opening were on the agenda, during which even one person had to be reanimated. Then it continued with a deep accident in a gravel pit in the municipality. Here a person fell about 20m and had to be rescued.

After the well-deserved lunch break, a cellar fire with missing people had to be put out. “But the most spectacular scenario was probably the burning car. Its extinguishing was watched by many impressed spectators ”, reports fire brigade commander Christian Schlosser. "In addition, a traffic accident with trapped people had to be dealt with, which was mastered with flying colors," explains Schlosser proudly. At the end of the day of the exercise, a deflagration was staged in a day-care center, which ended with a search for missing persons in a large wooded area.

"All in all, it was a very successful day for both fire departments", the two commanders agreed and drew a positive balance of the performances shown.

In the end, all participants were exhausted, but at the same time happy that the exercise day could be carried out and that cross-organizational collaboration could be trained.

The Hochstadt and Oberpfaffenhofen fire brigades would like to take this opportunity to thank the community of Weßling, the German Aerospace Center, the Klarwein company and the Oberpfaffenhofen special airport for providing the exercise facilities.

A big thank you also goes to the members of the youth fire brigade for their support, who acted as actors in the scenarios.
