Parents, teachers and school officials demonstrated on Monday afternoon in front of the rectorate of Créteil. While incivility

The beating of a student last Friday at the entrance of the Blaise-Cendrars high school in Sevran was "the straw that broke the camel's back", illustrates Clément Bernard.

This math teacher, unionized at Snes-FSU, participated alongside twenty members of the educational community in a demonstration on Monday afternoon in front of the rectorate of Créteil (Val-de-Marne).

The people mobilized denounce the lack of human resources allocated to school life, which is believed to be at the origin of the recent deterioration of the climate within the establishment.

On October 15, during the meridian break, a teenager was severely beaten on the forecourt of the school.

“This is the second time that a student has been beaten up since the start of the year,” says Clément Bernard.

According to Célia Meyer, one of Blaise-Cendrars' three principal education advisers (CPE), the victim "is doing better".

She allegedly refused to give the identity of her attacker.

It would be a settling of scores, "as there may be in front of other establishments in Seine-Saint-Denis," notes the CPE.

The rivalries between the inhabitants of Sevran and Villepinte or between those of the various districts of Sevran constitute an "aggravating factor" but they are "not the main cause" of the deteriorated situation within the school, considers Clément Bernard.

For several weeks now, teachers and school staff have been asking for additional resources for their establishment, in this case the creation of a fourth post of childcare center and three full-time posts of educational assistants.

"We cannot do our work properly because we each have the charge of 14 or 15 classes," says Célia Meyer.

A situation which, in the opinion of a student mother, does not allow them to properly monitor absentee students.

"The pupils start doing anything in the halls"

According to the math teacher, Blaise-Cendrars won "more than 200 students in two years". “It's a high school made for 800 students, there are now 1,150”, adds Célia Meyer. This increase, which the half-gauge courses last year partially masked, was not accompanied by any hiring in school life. "Consequently, the establishment cannot be supervised on all floors and the safety of the students is not guaranteed at all times", deplores a teacher.

Since the start of the school year, the educational community has identified two fires (on September 9 and 21), a first fight near the high school resulting in a temporary incapacity for work of seven days for a student and the manufacture of a weapon. white within the self.

“The students start doing anything in the hallways, which was not the case before,” says Clément Bernard.

Clémentine Autain to the rescue

A first picket line was set up in front of the school gate on October 5.

On the 11th, a delegation was received in audience at the rectorate.

"We were made to understand that our school was functioning with normal means and that it was up to us to find solutions", reports Célia Meyer.

Four days later, in the wake of the beating of a student, the teachers stopped working and the school closed in the afternoon.

This Monday, a delegation made up of a student's parent, a teacher and the deputy for the constituency Clémentine Autain (LFI) was received at the premises of the rectorate.

The trio came out weighted with a "great disappointment", confides the latter.

"In short, we are told:

Circulate there is nothing to do,

while nothing would be worse than to trivialize what is happening, adds the parliamentarian, who recalls the need for the creation of a full-service police station in Sevran.

We need to lower the level of tension, and for that we need the intervention of a whole chain of public actors.

»Clémentine Autain intends to write to Jean-Michel Blanquer on the subject.

Parents are calling for a “dead high school” day on Tuesday.

Contacted this Monday afternoon, the rectorate of Créteil did not respond to us this Monday evening at 9 p.m.
