At least five people were killed in the floods that hit the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand.
"Many parts of Uttarakhand state are still isolated after being inundated with flood waters flowing on highways and main roads, and five deaths were recorded in the past 24 hours," the Xinhua news agency quoted the Indian authorities as saying.
In the neighboring state of Kerala, which is witnessing devastating floods and loss of life, the authorities have also declared a state of high alert in Idukki, Kottayam and Ernakulam districts of the state.
