Housing, transport and education: The community of Forstinning has published the land use plan - citizens were able to take part in an information evening
Forstinning - What actually is a land use plan?
One reads and hears about it in the media - but mostly does not understand the “cryptic” official language.
Likewise, in many municipalities, the plans are either outdated or have been revised several times, so that a current version should convey the same level of knowledge to all those involved.
The municipality of Forstinning is now preparing such a “current” version, for which the land use plan (FNP) is an important planning tool for the municipality for urban development and the foreseeable uses and developments for the next 15 years. Under no circumstances should this be set up without its citizens.
45 interested parties now had the opportunity in Forstinning to take a look “behind the scenes” of such a set of rules at an information evening based on a presentation by planners and experts. After all, you are on site to provide first-hand information on the topics of housing, transport, education and leisure and recreation in your community.
But how can citizens participate in setting up an FNP? This is legally regulated by the land-use planning: “The public must be informed as early as possible about goals and purposes as well as different solutions. The public is to be given the opportunity to comment and discuss. The drafts of the zoning plans are to be publicly displayed for inspection in the town hall for a period of one month. The building plans and their justifications are also published on the Internet by the municipality. "
In addition, each municipality is free to further expand participation in addition to the statutory procedure, for example through public information evenings, public workshops, local district events or other information rounds.
In addition to the legal requirements, the Forstinningen administration decided in advance to involve the public in the discussion about long-term community development goals during the formal planning process.
Because of the complexity of a zoning plan, there will hopefully be further information events on the subject in the near future, because a 15-year forecast cannot be dealt with in a joint meeting
