While trying to sell a fake vaccination certificate to a plainclothes officer, two fraudsters were arrested in Essen.
The 29-year-old and his 21-year-old accomplice offered the officer two vaccination cards with Covid stickers in a supermarket parking lot, the police reported on Tuesday.
The emergency services had become aware of a corresponding online offer from the men through a witness and drove to the parking lot.
Essen - In order to prove the quality of the passports, the 29-year-old showed chat histories from supposedly satisfied customers, it said.
The two men were provisionally arrested.
In their cars and apartments, officials discovered, among other things, other falsified vaccination cards and a stamp with the inscription “Impfzentrum Essen”.
After the operation on Friday, the men were allowed to leave police custody.
