Thigh-knockers, guard dances and costumes: The Elferratsseatungen of the Crachia Hausham traditionally initiate the carnival.

But there won't be a big break this year.

Hausham -

It would have happened on November 12th.

Then 200 participants would have invited to the first of four Elferrat meetings in the hall of the Alpengasthof Glückauf.

They would have entertained 320 guests with amusing skits, impressive guard dances and humorous music - a high point in the Crachia club life.

Hausham: Crachia won't let it rip this year either

But unlike the carnival society of sea spirits in Gmund, the Haushamer Crachia has decided not to hold any penalty council meetings this year - although that would be possible if the 3G rule was observed.

"The easing came too late for us," says Crachia President Alexander Thamm.

“We should have found out about it in June or July in order to get everything started in time.” After all, the Crachia offers a certain level with its events.

The association's claim is to maintain this level permanently - even in pandemic times.

"We weren't able to train our garden personally again until late summer," says Thamm.

With the Election Council meeting, the enthronement of a new pair of princes falls flat: "We will only enthrone again when we can hold Eleven Council meetings."

Not only the penalty council meetings are canceled.

There will also be no carnival procession during the high season in February.

Because the design of the moving truck costs money.

"We and the other clubs cannot spend a lot of money without the certainty that the move will actually take place," says Thamm.

At the moment, of course, there are easing.

“But we don't know what the situation is like in January and February.” A financial commitment is too risky in view of this uncertainty.

"Otherwise we will drive the club against the wall financially."

No substitute for a canceled train from the previous year: "Better to wait another year"

The carnival procession, which takes place every three years, should already have passed through Hausham last season. This year it could have been made up for. “We'd rather wait another year. We may have a new government in January, which will then come up with new measures, ”says Thamm.

Households probably don't have to completely do without foolish hustle and bustle - there may be one or two carnival balls in February.

At the end of October, the Crachia committees meet to see what is possible.

According to Thamm, it must be ensured that the 3G rule can be checked.

"We want to meet our obligation to provide evidence so that there is no superspreader event." That would not least damage the association's image.

It is also conceivable that the balls take place outside.

Whether, how and how many - that would be the subject of discussions in the coming weeks.

"It doesn't fail because of our will," says Thamm, "but we do it with care."
