After a fire, a house in Karlsruhe became uninhabitable.
According to initial police estimates, there was damage of around 800,000 euros.
Residents noticed the fire at the rear on Tuesday morning and tried unsuccessfully to fight it with a fire extinguisher.
When the fire brigade arrived, meter-high flames broke out of the building.
Karlsruhe - people were no longer in it.
During the several hours of extinguishing work, electricity and gas supplies in the area had to be shut down at times.
The cause was initially unclear.
