The high fuel prices at German petrol stations are causing tank tourism to pick up again in Poland.
"The greater the price differences for fuel, the more the colleagues in Germany suffer," said Hans-Joachim Rühlemann, Chairman of the Association of the Garage and Gas Station Industry North-East, on Tuesday when asked.
At his gas station, sales have fallen by 17 percent since the beginning of the month.
Potsdam - "That will definitely increase to 20 percent," he said.
The association looks after around 80 to 100 petrol stations in Brandenburg and 150 in Berlin.
Rühlemann said that the motorists who always drove to Poland to refuel were now joined by others who wanted to take advantage of the price advantages.
However, it should also be calculated whether long journeys are really worthwhile.
The current fuel prices in Poland are national average for 95 gasoline at 5.88 zloty (1.30 euros), for 98 gasoline 6.08 zloty (1.35 euros) and for diesel 5.87 zloty (1.30 euros) .
"The Germans refuel here as always," said the employee at a gas station in Slubice of the German press agency.

Inflation rate in Saxony rises to 4.1 percent
The price surge in Saxony continues.
Annual inflation rose to 4.1 percent in September and will therefore remain at a high level, as the State Statistical Office announced on Thursday.
The main reasons given by the statisticians are the fuel prices that have been rising for months (27.7 percent).
In addition, new cars (6.3 percent), motorcycles (6.6 percent) and bicycles (8.1 percent) cost more than twelve months ago.

On the German side in Frankfurt (Oder), however, the decline in customers is noticeable.
"The incentive to drive across the border is even greater when cigarettes are bought for the aunt," said one operator.
Then many drivers would accept a longer journey.
In Guben (Spree-Neisse district), too, the number of customers at the petrol stations is falling noticeably.
"Probably more drive over there," said one employee.
However, the ADAC Berlin-Brandenburg has not yet noticed any increase in fuel tourism among its members.
According to Rühlemann, the economic situation is becoming more difficult for his colleagues.
“We don't live from the sale of fuel, but from the shop, the sale of bread rolls, newspapers and snacks.
It's known, ”he said.
If there were no tank customers, this income would also be lost.
In some cases, opening times were shortened in the evening hours in order to save personnel costs.
