In Myanmar, hundreds of political prisoners arrested for protesting the current regime were released by the military board of prisons in the cities of Rangoon and Mandalay, according to the state news portal Global New Light.
The newspaper also reported that more than 4,300 accused in court will be acquitted.
Authorities said released prisoners will have to sign a document promising not to commit violent acts.
