Emmanuel Macron had already announced that he would take into account the recommendations of the Stora report, published in January 2021, on the harkis, the events of October 17, 1961, and the anniversary of the Evian agreements, in March 2022.

The logic of the President of the Republic is mysterious, he does things "at the same time".

On the one hand, it pays homage to the harkis - victims of a real injustice -, insists on the need to give them a place in the national memory and, on the other, it seems to give water to the mill of the official version of October 17, 1961, that of the FLN and friends of the FLN in France.
