2021-10-19T08:52:29.239Z

The Coordinator of Government Operations announced that it would be possible to change the addresses of some 2,800 Palestinians born in the Gaza Strip who moved to Judea and Samaria before 2007.

Major General Rassan Aliyan, Coordinator of Government Operations in the Occupied Territories, informed Palestinian Authority representatives this morning (Tuesday) that 1,200 applications for registration in the Palestinian Authority of Palestinian residents living in Judea and Samaria, who have not been registered in the Palestinian Population Register ("undocumented") have been approved.

In addition, it will be possible to change the address of 2,800 Palestinians registered in the Palestinian population register, who were born in the Gaza Strip and moved to Judea and Samaria before 2007.

It should be emphasized that all the approved applications are on a humanitarian background and that each application is thoroughly examined and approved subject to the security approval of the relevant security bodies in Israel.

In all cases, these are Palestinians who have been in Judea and Samaria for many years.

Permission to register in the Palestinian Population Registry will be granted according to three criteria for humanitarian reasons, and for populations living in the Judea and Samaria area for many years:

Residents who fled the Gaza Strip before 2007 and live continuously in Judea and Samaria.

2. Residents living in the area and for various reasons have never been issued a Palestinian ID.

3. Palestinian residents who went abroad and returned before the agreements, and the documentation was denied to them, and have been in the area for decades.

We further noted that the permit for registration will be given to Palestinian residents residing in the territories of the Palestinian Authority only.

Registration will not be possible for residents living abroad.

Recall that according to the agreements between the State of Israel and the Palestinian Authority, the Palestinian Population Registry is administered by the Palestinian Authority in charge of it.
