Top politicians of the Berlin Left have campaigned among the party base to start coalition negotiations with the SPD and the Greens.
The Left Party could only “continue to be politically and creatively active” if it was responsible for government, said state chairwoman Katina Schubert on Tuesday evening at a special party conference.
This is the only way for the party to implement what is important to it.
Berlin - Many people are betting on the left, the party also has a responsibility here.
Top candidate Klaus Lederer made a similar statement: "We want to shape, we want to implement left-wing politics in this city."
Schubert and Lederer emphasized that the left wanted to implement the successful referendum for the expropriation of large housing companies without restriction.
In order not to “fall on the nose” legally, as with the rent cap, it is important to activate all of the expertise in order to work out a workable law, said Schubert.
Lederer said the left is the only reliable guarantee that work will be carried out on the implementation of the referendum.
"It's not about whether we can enforce the referendum, but how."

Left works on election slap
According to the exploratory paper that the SPD, the Greens and the Left had agreed on last week, an expert commission is to examine the “possibilities, ways and prerequisites for implementation” of the referendum and develop recommendations for further action by the Senate within a year.
The issue is one of the most controversial between the three parties.
